There is also an in-line volume control dial and a toggle switch that lets you switch the microphone on or off. You would, however, need a separate adapter if you need to plug it in to a smaller Xbox controller port. I digress.įor a gaming headset in this price range it really does look to be as adaptable as it can it comes with dual 3.5mm jacks as standard (mic + audio) and has an adapter to plug in to single-port devices, such as a mobile phone, Macbook, etc. On a side note, in case anyone was wondering, the first Steelseries Siberia V2 that I owned was replaced by an Audio Technica ATH-A500X and ModMic 4 and went on to my fiancée.

I was a big fan of the SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset but the second set that I owned developed a fault where the audio was bleeding through to the microphone feed so my game was audible whenever I was using voice chat, which wasn't ideal for the other players. It did convince me that even if it was probably a great piece of headset for some users, I was not one of them, so I sent it back. Playing a few games, the voices were somewhat inaudible compared to my current set up. In term of surround performance, I was not impressed. That's one of the reason why I like to have the sound set up to less than 50%, because I know I have some leeway if some sources prove to be bad. I could quickly understand how some sources with a low volume could turn out to be problematic. I had to crank up my main volume to about 70 to 80% of its maximum to get the same volume than what I generally have at 40-45% of the max volume, and it was with the base set to the max. The sound however didn't blow me away, and the volume was quite low compared to my usual set up (G933). I did however plug the thing, discovered a very well made USB station from which I could configure my source and it was a very pleasant experience. They were definitely laying on the bottom of my ears, which obviously meant that they were not isolating me from the outside as well as I'd like. The round ear did little to help with my feelings. I did recall my two G930 which happened to break after 1 year of use. I was a bit worried of the longevity of the product. When putting it on my head, it sounded like the plastic was being under pressure. I could make it bigger but this revealed some plasticky part that didn't look very strong. Taking the headset, I noticed it was rather a small headset, smaller than my latest one. World's best wireless gaming headset the box says. The bargain price at Amazon (129£ instead of around 200£) was making this a very good deal. Upon receiving the item, I noticed how well the packaging was made. I've bought that item because I read very good reviews around its sound quality and surround performance.
